Meet "Art", Grace's inspiration for drawing the articulated human body!
The Reading Room...
The School Room...
The Verandah...
Here's a shot of Grace hugging Ami and both girls are showing Mariposa and I how incredibly distruaght they are upon hearing the news that they must part for the evening... We met at a local bakery/dinner restaurant and the girls had a ball drawing and talking. We visited a local ceramic shop that had just opened and the girls painted figurines before dinner! Grace liked that, and it looked like Ami did too:)
Homeschooling on the road is actually much better this year for us. This is due to a number of things. First, Grace is a bit more focused, which is really nice. Second, I have gotten smart and learned to anticipate Grace a bit more, use local resources and relax a bit more. Finally, I know a whole lot more about the area where Grandma and Grandpa live now and I can navigate the activities and resources better. It has been pretty hot here, so we've been trying to do cool things. Tomorow will be a visit to a local botanical garden! I hear from Ami that the "mariposas" are "bonita";)

Congratulations! I hope you have a wonderful time homeschooling this year -- isn't it fun?
Hi Forte,
I love the cornsnake as a pet too! It is really sweet and easy to handle. It's one drawback is the mice it eats, although you can easily feed it frozen ones. Next spring Annie and another homeschooler will breed their snakes and maybe get babies!
As for the chickens, we got bantams and they are so small, Annie brought one to the supermarket today in a little carrier (no one suspected!)
Thanks for your warm comments!
And yes, I've done commissions;D
P-
Oh, it sounds like so much fun! It's great that Ami and Grace and hang out together.
Baudelaire,
Yes! It is much more fun this year:)

Patrice,
The breeding sounds very interesting! Our friend has a corn snake ( he's beautiful!) and he looks like he has a checker pattern on his underbelly.
The chickens were a pipe -dream of Grace's while we lived with a certain notable scientific celebrity. It just wouldn't have worked out...If you know what I mean;)
We live on our own now on the campus, but housing would have a cow if we got chickens! ( no pun intended...)

Red Sea,
We fly here to visit my parents a number of times a year, and Ami and Mariposa live nearby! It really is a wonderful thing, I agree!

LOL, P has an "Art" as well..we inherited him from Poppa.
We call him "The Bald Dude" around here.;-)
I would love to hear more about "relaxing more."
Cher,
I tend to be a bit over-structured at times and it doesn't jive well with Grace. She's WAY more cooperative about working on the "skill" side of things this year, which makes it a whole lot easier for me to feel like the "adequate progress" has been made. The fact is that I have always been a bit too anal for my own good, and the structured HS requirements in our state don't help on that account. I always feel that I have to somehow *still* squish Grace into their "box".
