I am a bit incensed by this Article.

Why I didn't want a Girl...

The reason I am annoyed and upset over this is not because Amy Wilson doesn't want a girl. According to the end of the article, she "gets it" now...

Well, "Whoop-dee-do"  for Amy. I'm glad she "gets it" now, but I am confused as to what exactly she "gets".   In her article, she describes not being able to stomach the enless reruns of The little Mermaid etc, on account of having a girl. This last revelation upsets me to no end, as it shows to me just what a forgone conclusion it is that a "girl" will  automatically  go for "Little Mermaid" over any other entertainment choice. It sickens me, frankly.  Until idiots like these quit perpetuating obnoxious stereotypes in the media like this, girls everywhere will be doomed to Pepto Pink clothing and pink plastic ironing boards for play toys. 

For GOD sakes I sincerely hope she didn't get rid of her TWO son's-worth of baby clothing because this one is a "girl".  :/

Of course, this is a book by Sir Ken Robinson , which is somewhat on a similar topic as  cher mere cafe's last post on Leta Hollingworth. His take is on the adult side of this debate--the fact that most adults are simply walking around, doning "some job", day-after day, with absolutely NO IDEA what their strengths are.  I think that this could effect both us and our children, because although we all may be good at a great many things, indeed some of us are great at EVERYTHING attempted, it may be impossible to find the actual "passion".  What say you all?

Happy Birthday to Me! :D

I was surprised by lovely blush-white roses and apple pastries this morning! We ate out on the porch, while watching the birds! It was 87 degrees today...

This little guy decided to pop out from under the front stairs and pose for a picture or two!


We were at the beach and a going-away party all day, and had a lovely Hibachi Dinner this evening.
Thank you to everyone who wished me well this morning and evening, as well as to my Parents for the gift of the "New Yorker". It will be greatly appreciated, considering... :) Thanks also to Carl and grace, without whom I think I'd be an old spinster by now! Ich. Ni. SAN!!

Happy Birthday to my Martial Arts and Anime lover. Happy Birthday to my engineer and my baby. You are just as beautiful outside as you are inside, and we all love you very much! On the Road Again!

We are in the great Southwest again, visiting Grandma and Grandpa and the Mariposa Family!

Carl flew down a week later, and we've all been having a marvelous time!

We took some of Grandma's statues up North to a foundry for bronzing and took a tour of the facility. It was extremely interesting! I never would have guessed that the process of bronzing a statue was that complicated. We were all surprised at the "artistry" of the foundry staff, which they need in spades to bring out the life in one's creation! Some of the statues, complete with different patinas( colors or hues of the bronze) were absolutely breathtaking..
We then continued over the mountains to a nearby Ghost Town". The view of the valley was so beautiful, that I just had to take a picture! We then continued down the mountain, after lunch, and headed to a nearby monument. The winds were 50 m.p.h, so I am surprised that Grace is standing up in the photo! :D



Grace couldn't help "saving" this tumbleweed...


Finally, Yesterday, we went to a baseball game, and then to view the starts up North, in honor of Galileo's 400th anniversary! ( No pictures of that though :( )
