It WAS!! This was a "Giant Puffball" mushroom, and it is every bit a wonderful as it is reported to be! There is something satisfying about gathering one's own food, growing one's own food... It makes us feel connected to the Earth. I know it sonds silly, but I really think that is missing in our world sometimes.

Yes! I love Puffball's. You two look so happy in the photos! We love to hunt and photograph mushrooms, and I wish I had a little bit more confidence/knowledge so that we could eat more. Made my mouth water!

I have never seen a mushroom that big. Looks like you all seasoned it up very well. I love fried mushrooms. That however, is kinda scarey looking. Must have served the entire family.

Wow, you must have enough mushroom to last you a month or so!

I found your blog last week and I think it's great.

Hello Maria! Welcome to the Secret House! I wonered who was visiting from France! I<3 France ad I wish we could go back sometime soon, but it is not to be right now. ( Something about this thing called the Economy...) Any chance I can see your blog? :D

In any case, The mushroom was big, but has such a high water content that it cooked down pretty small! We only got about one large pan's worth out of it. :)

Hi,
My blog is rather boring, but you would be more than welcome to read it, just let me have your email address and I'll invite you. My daughter, Gabrielle's blog is more fun than mine, however it is in French.
I should make more time for blogging, but I find other peoples blogs heaps more interesting.
My email address is alain.ledoux@gmail.com.

A bientôt

Maria
