Not Posting Much...

Hi! I've been lax on posting this holiday season! Carl was Ill part of last week, but we've still managed to have a bunch of fun on our visit to Grandma's! I'll begin posting in earnest again after we return home on the 7th of January. Until then, I hope everyone had a GREAT holiday and a Happy New Year!

Dinner and a Movie!

Grace did her own school for 3.5 hours yesterday, as she often does, without me saying a word. Did I mention this is Christmas break? :D
Well we also went out yesterday afternoon to shop for some christmas presents, and Grace was a great help! She really does have an eye for locating pretty items! She indicated things like "color, tone and balance" while looking for the perfect thing;)
Then we met and had a great time with Ami, Mariposa and Mr. M! We met at the bookstore, and Grace indulged a new passion of consuming Ted Geisel books. ( That's Dr. Seuss books, for those who don't know Ted) She was never into these when she was a baby or toddler, and I tried to "introduce" them, because I have a set of signed copies of many of the books. My Grandmother had them signed at Marshall Fields in Chicago, years ago, as she was the manager of the Children's Department! I loved the cute "on the fly" illustrations he would draw for the signings. Grace apparently does now too, because she includes them in her reading binges. :) She just loves the innocent humor and far-flung illustrations:) She also picked up the Nutcracker, the newest Spiderwick book and The Wicked History of the World (History with the bad parts left in...) to look at:)

We moved on from the bookstore to eat dinner, which was good! I had the salad-that-ate-Texas...and so did Ami, and Mariposa, and Mr. M! LOL! We all had a little piece of it, It was so big:) And *I* thought I was being good, getting a salad.

Then, Mariposa, Ami, Grace and I all went to see "Enchanted", and the guys went to see "I am Legend". Both were great, according to the viewers, and the girls asked for copies of the movie when it comes out on DVD. I'm ok with that;)

Simply Having a Wonderful Christmastime!

We flew in in Monday morning, and the flight was FANTASTIC! I am a Jet Blue convert now! The service was wonderful, they actually had snacks and you can't beat the in-seat entertainment. Carl was just in love with the fact that he could stretch out his (rather sizable) legs, as well! It was a straight flight on top of everything!
Since then, we've been kicking back and having fun! Grace has been golfing, swimming, to a holiday party and to the mall by Wednesday. Carl and I have been catching up on our W.o. W. questing in the evenings ( gotta love the time change!) and we are planning an outing to Ami's today, which Grace is ecstatic about:)I'm sure we'll be seeing a lot of Mariposa, Ami and the Mr. this break! Mariposa has to promise that Grace and Ami can make cookies with food dye though;) LOL We also plan to get together with some friends from a state over in the New Year. What a "Wonderful Christmastime" indeed:)

Home Stretch...

This is our last week before the holiday break for us, and we are ALL ready for it to be over. Carl got home VERY late, at 2:30 am Monday morning. Rusty was very good, and went back to sleep when he came home, and Grace was an absolute PEACH and slept through the whole thing!
We finished our Foreign Lands Club for this month, and Grace gave a kick-butt report there on "Triad Poems of the Mongolian Nomads".
Today, Grace needs to finish her report for History Club, which is tomorrow.
Thursday is Grace's "Day with her Friend", who will be here for the afternoon, and Friday we need to drive about 1.5 hours away for a Space shuttle challenger program.
Saturday is an Open House we are having here at the new, improved secret house, and Sunday we need to go to the President's home for another open house. It's quite funny , how much we are doing, directly prior to flying away for a month.
Here are some pictures of our reunion last evening and family time:)

Busy, Busy , Busy

SIGH. We have been busy again, and I am not sure it is a good thing. We have had at least one program per day, and sometimes more errands afterwards. For example, today we are supposed to go to a field trip from 10am to 12 pm, then do school, then visit the library to tell them I do NOT have a book from 3 months ago, then to the vet for Rusty, and finally to a friend's house for pizza and to help them with a computer glitch. LOOOOOOONG day---and that's just TODAY. :(

To top it off, this happened again:

Sorry for the complaint post, but I am tired, and I can't wait to get away to some sunshine and fun! ;)
Meanwhile, Grace has been extra funny around here, making little pop-up displays and making up movies with "sound effects" . It's sweet. She's also been working very hard at school and reading like a fiend, so I suppose I won't begrudge her a shot at hollywood with her movies about "a lowly blacksmith who realizes he's meant for more"....;)

P.S. Raise your hand if you like those little "window jellies" for each holiday? :)

Rusty has Arrived!!

Our little guy has arrived! We are so happy:) Grace just LOVES him, and I must confess, we do too. He's a sprite, but timid, and sweet, but "saucy" , as Ami mentioned;) He really does look like he's part fox, and he follows us around the house. While it is interesting that it snowed today, I think it is better this way...We'll have time to hang out and get to know him!
