UPDATE! Apparently, I am entirely incorrect. CBS says that the "very mention" of lifting the off-shore drilling ban by our Pal-in -Chief has made oil prices drop...slightly.
Wait! STOP THE PRESS!! HUZZAH!! BREAK OUT THE CHAMPAGNE!!! OIL PPRICES DROPPED SLIGHTLY!!!

Just how STUPID do the media outlets think Americans are? Well, how about 73% stupid.
The Gallop poll cited in the article states that 73% of Americans have been duped into believing that off-shore drilling presents a real fix for the oil pricetag we are currently facing.
If you are in this camp, I urge you to visit the same NPR segment I listed below , which is a discussion by Henry Lee, Director of the Environment and Natural Resources Program at Harvard University, on why this is NOT at all the case. He explains why in a very clear and concise way.
I shake my head in dismay. I suppose we should all go to Wal -Mart and buy something now, so we'll feel better. You'd better fill up your car there as well...while you are out...in your huge SUV.

I guess I am in denial too -- as I try to contemplate that 73%, my brain keeps generating rationalizations:
"It must be a skewed sample somehow."
"Maybe they counted the 'not sure' responses."
It's like I can believe anything except the fact that 73-flippin-percent of Americans think that *maybe* finding a *small* amount of oil that would not be available for *10* years could make a difference.

LOL , Shaun! I know. Gallop Polls...are , well, Gallop poles. We all know they have inherant problems, but it is the statistic that CBS cted, so peope will be likely to believe it. It is Scary.

We have oil! What we don't have is the refineries for the oil. "Large Oil" has closed some of their refineries in order to raise and keep elevated prices. (Uh, I am talking about the companies here in our "backyard" not the mideast.) Seeing as though the current administration made (makes) its living off of oil ......... are they going to demand more refineries? Uh, No, they will support (they will insure!) new drilling keeping their money will come in for years to come. Their motto.... Let them eat cake!
Please bring on the elections! Enough is enough! OK, now I have had my say!
