This looks pretty cool!

I am toying with using a curriculum like this, as you can order the guide and simply do any/all grade levels from K-8th. The core books are separate, but we can purchase what we need as we go and as the mood strikes us. Has anyone used this or found it great/horrid?
I am the kind of person that really likes to use a "framework", but one that allows me to still be flexible!

I had a look but I must say it is not the sort of thing that would interest me. I don't have much respect for what passes as "essential knowledge" these days in schools. I've tried to follow the World Book scope-and-sequences in the past (as they are the best I found) and thought them shallow and banal. Also, with a child like yours, I would wonder if something like this would hold her back.
I prefer something like Ambleside Online where the child is learning from high quality classic literature, and getting a solid background in history and science. But it is all rather antique! I like that because I think children got a better education in the past. But it's not for everyone.
JMHO.
I have a couple of these books,
I used them for my nieces when
they were little. They moved around a lot and were not in a home that encouraged education. I used them to
try to keep their heads above water
in public school.
I do plan to use them for a frame of sorts-
just so I know P has what "public school" would give and then I'll add and
embellish as I see fit.;-)
I initially purchased one of these and then was given one or two of these. Somewhere in the book, maybe the front, the author says that they only skim about 50% of the topics that should be covered at a particular grade. To me, it is a book for a check up. I would borrow it from the library. The books lack depth and the math seems a grade level behind because I think they are saying a child should know this by ..... grade.
The books they recomended online looked interesting as long as they are not abridged. I could not tell that.
What I saw online, after looking at the examples from the various books etc ( NOT the "What your Nth Grader should know"....That's actually separate!!) is that the curriculum itself is a frame for k-8th, and NOT comprehensive. That's ok by me. I just like a little direction push. Of course, if Grace wanted to take a stroll down a side street on the way, no problem:)
I'm just looking yet again:)

We have the books and use them as late night reading. I haven't visited the website. The books skim over the topics and require a lot more in depth reading to get a grasp on any of the topics. That isn't a problem if you aren't using them alone. I have considered them to be of some use to me and the kids like to read them. Tha's always a plus.
Yeah. It looks like this line is a bust!
I did, however, visit Ambleside, and I have lots of great stuff to look at! ;)
Thanks Patience!
