We've been taking advantage of our proximity to the city lately, and Grace has gained much confidence from riding both the train and the subway to and from our destinations! She seems to be absolutely at home navigating the transportation system here. I am not sure why I am surprised, as she has always loved the train!
Today, we visited an exhibit on Global Climate Change, an exhibit on Human Origins, one on Birds of the World, and one on Gems and Meteors. Grace decided to sketch some of the different minerals in her sketch book. She really enjoyed that.
We also went to an IMAX presentation called "Monsters of the Deep", which we all really thought was neat!
It was a wonderful day. We plan to really use the city as a part of her curriculum this year.

Mmmmmm. What a full and lovely day! Would love to see her sketch book.
I would love to see her sketch book too. Please bring it with you when you come to see us. Just knowing that some of those things have passed her little eyes and this is how she saw them all. Glad you went to the city. We need to go more here too. We were just talking about that.
That's so neat. What a great day!
Sounds great! I thought of
doing some of that myself today,
with DH off, but the rain
kept me home. ;-)
I can't remember the name of the author, but there is a great book about the subway system and how it works. We did "public transportation adventures" one year where I taught them how to use a bus schedule, and learn the grids of our county map. They picked locations, then plotted out the way. I find now that Buzz is driving, he is more aware of those specific routes than others we have done more often with him as a passenger!
She looks great. I'm jealous!
You all know you are always welcome Chez Forte;)
It is not a fun Urban day to be merely enjoyed by ONE child! LOL
