Egg Drop-a-Q!

We hosted Grace's Homeschool Egg Drop competition yesterday, here at the secret house! It was an absolutely LOVELY day! There were about 25 kids and their parents in attendance! Grace was in heaven as it was essentially a very large play date before and after the competition. We grilled out first, the kids played hide-and-seek, cops and robbers, red rover  and other games. Grace decided to open a whittling business. She charged various prices for hand-whittling sticks into "knives" ( not dangerous ones) and made a small profit! LOL
The knives later came in handy at the egg drop, as most of the projects were taped up!
Grace's  "Eggselsior" reached the ground completely intact! She was *so* proud!  Above is a picture of me holding the "guts" of her inner capsule ( which is why I look so weird...it was 4x strength Knox Gelatin) and Grace looking on, very proud!  It was a 25 ft drop, right on to a paved surface.

The rest of the day was very relaxed, with the adults talking and the kids all playing! Grace was very tired last night, and went to bed at about 10 PM, but she awoke at 4 am and did not really go back to sleep. She said her mind was racing.  I think it is the overexcitabilites, as she had such an active day yesterday. That kind of thing happens often , which is why we try to keep things on a schedule. She was the same as when we went to Williamsburg with Mariposa and Ami. Remember the "burning the candle at both ends" she did?

Wow, that was really cool. Congratulations to Grace on her egg. And I love her money making venture!

I think I still owe her 25 cents, actually...and HO BOY! Do I know about wacky sleep schedules :)
