Ah yes....I did say we were slowing down this semester, right?

I've gone and done it again. Busy Busy Busy.
First off, Grace has been enrolled in a weekly Drama School. She loves it, and the two directors see a heck of a lot of potential there. We'll see where it goes. :)
Grace and I have also been attending a smattering of really cool programs this month, as well as classes and field trips. Grace has been pretty wonderful, although she still has issues with getting shuteye. One of her favorite programs was the visit to a local natural history museum. She attended a pottery class and a class on skeletal remains. The second class bas basically High School level and the instructor covered the "forensics" of ID ing bones from Native Americans. She's been reading like crazy, practicing her piano, learning about Egyptian and New York History , painting, doing math and science stuff and loving the puppy!
I have been cooking, cleaning , playing my WOW character and reading some new stuff! I've read two books by Geraldine Brooks lately and I am hooked.
We visited a Montessori school, just to check it out, and Grace will try a day there on Monday. We'll see where that goes as well. So far, she wants to stay home, but if anything could tempt her to NOT homeschool, I think it will be this school. It has a farm, stand-alone science building, art building, huge fields, and all of the buildings are walk-between! She has to go outside between classes:) If she doesn't like it, we are no worse off, but if she does, then it may just be a good move!

My goodness you are busy! Good luck with the school. I can't imagine why anyone would want to give up homeschooling, but I do hope you find an option that is just perfect for Grace and your family. Will she still be able to do her other classes if she is in proper school?

I've heard such conflicting things about Montessori's suitability for gifted kids. What do you think?

Ptience,
I really think it depends on the kid and the school! We are "investigating" , as this is the only school for miles that could really work. Grace already met the teachers and liked them both. That was encouraging! There are only about 8-9 kids for each of the 1-3rd and 4-6th classrooms. The director said they'd put her age-wise in the 1-3rd, but that she'd allow her to go to the 4-6th for subjects in which she requires it. I think it is wise. Grace still loves "lay" and gentle things. I am not sure she'd do well all day with a close experience with the iPod crowd;)
